Amachi Ohio targets children who reside in Hamilton County between the ages of 5-14 who have an incarcerated parent. Volunteer expectations are the same as in our traditional Community Based program.
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction discovered in recent data that 1,089 Hamilton County inmates were parents of 1,524 dependent children. Statistics show that children of incarcerated parents are seven times more likely to become involved with the juvenile and adult rehabilitation systems. We know that matching these children with a Big Brother or Big Sister will contribute to positive changes in their lives.
