A recent campaign from a local radio station
asked for callers to submit names of Hometown Heroes. Heres
an excerpt from a nomination submitted by a parent of one
of our Little Brothers:
I would like to nominate Mr. Jeff Stechschulte as a Hometown
Hero. Jeff has been the Big Brother to my son for 10 years.
Jeff has generously filled this role, always going the
extra mile. He has been there for every aspect of my sons
life during the last 10 years, from sporting events, viola
and choir concerts, his baptism, school functions and teacher
conferences. Jeff has exposed Travis to woodworking, several
outdoor activities, hockey games, baseball and football
games, car maintenance volunteering by helping the elderly,
as well as helping him with schoolwork. Jeff is like a
member of our family. As a single parent, I have so valued
the stability Jeff has provided as the male role-model
for my son. |

We
want to provide your child with a fun and positive role model!
Our work is as simple as putting a friend into a childs life and
as essential as putting hope into a childs future. Our goal is
simple: Provide a caring adult to help a child make positive choices
so they can reach their full potential.
At the heart of our program is the concept of One-to-One (TM) mentoring.
Adult volunteers are screened by our staff, given training, then matched
with a Little Brother or Little Sister also screened by the agency. The
emphasis is on building a long-lasting friendship, allowing the child
to build self-esteem and achieve goals. We offer our Littles a positive
role model through Big Brothers Big
Sisters, Couples for Kids,
Site-Based
Mentoring and Amachi Ohio.
If you are interested in your child entering our program, please contact
our office at (513) 421-4120 or fill out an application,
and we will contact you.
