2021 marked the inaugural year of our Defenders Circle – a multi-year fundraising campaign to clear our annual waiting list by providing the funds necessary ($480,000 per year) to match children with a Big Brother or Big Sister. Our campaign concluded on September 24, 2021 when we gathered at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Downtown Cincinnati for the BIG Breakfast with Rodney McMullen and David Taylor. They discussed the importance of mentoring in their personal and business lives. Help us honor Rodney and David for their exceptional mentorship and leadership during the pandemic and reach our Defenders Circle goal of $1,440,000.
Create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
With your investment, we can make and support a match with a Little Brother or Sister in our local community. $1,200 per match covers background checks, screening, training and ongoing professional case management support for the volunteer as well as home visits and an assessment of need for youth.
In 2020, despite the impact of the pandemic across our community and organization, we created and supported 1,025 matches. However, we have at least 400 local children annually who we must place on a waiting list to receive a Big Brother or Sister. To successfully match these 400 children on our waiting list, funding is needed to support each match.
