STEP 1: BIG APPLICATION
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Big! The first step is completing the Big Application. This helps us learn about your interests, experiences, and motivation so we can make thoughtful, compatible matches. After you submit your application, our team will review it and contact you with next steps.

STEP 2: ORIENTATION & INTERVIEW
Once your application is reviewed, we'll schedule an interview. This is an opportunity to learn more about the program and help us get to know you so we can make the best possible match.

STEP 3: SCREENING & MATCH
Child safety is our highest priority. As part of the enrollment process, BBBSGC conducts a Level II national background check on all prospective Bigs. Once your background check is cleared and your Match Enrollment Specialist approves your enrollment, you'll be ready to be matched. Using the information you've shared throughout the process, we'll identify a Little whose interests, personality, and needs align with yours.
There were plenty of times when I felt like giving up - with school, family, and even my own life.  David and Ms. Wende, who is like my guardian angel, from Big Brothers Big Sisters, fought with me and fought for me. I'm grateful for Big Brothers Big Sisters for placing those people in my life.                       - Little Brother, Gyp
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

STEP 4: MATCH INTRODUCTION
For Community-Based mentoring, your Match Enrollment Specialist will schedule a time for you to meet your Little and your Little’s parent or guardian – an opportunity to start getting to know each other in a supported environment. At this time, you will also schedule your first outing with your Little.

STEP 5: ONGOING SUPPORT
Once you're matched with a Little, your mentoring journey begins! Community-Based Bigs meet with their Littles in the community, while Site-Based Bigs connect with their Littles at their school or program site. Throughout your match, a Match Support Specialist will provide guidance, resources, and ongoing support to help your relationship thrive. We encourage you to celebrate successes, share challenges, and reach out whenever you need assistance. Together, we'll help create a fun, meaningful, and lasting impact for your Little.
